Private landowners seeking to enroll acres in the USDA’s Conservation Reserve Program can increase their chances of being accepted by improving environmental benefits in their offer. The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host three CRP seminars in northwest Missouri to help landowners. The seminars will give an overview of CRP programs and discuss how to improve the Environmental Benefit Index for acreage offered to the program.
KANSAS CITY Mo -- The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will offer a free workshop on using prescribed burns to improve wildlife habitat and control unwanted vegetation from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Four Rivers Conservation Area headquarters.
Landowners interested in using prescribed burns as a grassland management tool will learn how to prepare and use burn plans. Topics will also include weather factors for safe burns, fire line safety, seasonal burn timing and vegetation response, controlled burn equipment and the history of fire on Missouri’s landscape.
REDINGS MILL Mo -- Fire safety and good food will be the focus of a special event to be held Saturday, Feb. 19, at the Redings Mill Fire Department in Newton County, 344 Redings Mill Road, one mile south of Interstate-44, Exit 6 on Missouri Highway 86.
BROOKFIELD Mo - A free workshop on using prescribed burns to improve wildlife habitat and control unwanted vegetation will be offered from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Feb. 26 at the Brookfield Career Center, 122 N. Pershing Drive.
