High water closes parts of Springfield Nature Center trails

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Tuesday’s heavy rain has forced partial trail closings at the Missouri Department of Conservation’s (MDC) Springfield Conservation Nature Center.

 Portions of the nature center’s Long Trail and the Boardwalk Trail are closed due to high water. These trails will reopen when conditions become safe and, in the meantime, trail-users are asked to turn around when they reach signs indicating the parts of the trails that are closed. The nature center’s Fox Bluff and Savanna Ridge trails are still open. The nature center’s trails are open 8 a.m.-8 p.m. daily.
