WILDWOOD, Mo.—Money may not grow on trees, but paper does . . . more or less. The plant and forest products industries are responsible for all the paper we use in our daily lives. Without this important, natural product there would be no books, newspapers, gift wrapping, napkins, tissues, and many types of containers. Paper is also a recyclable resource.

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) wants to help you discover the close tie between paper and nature at the Making Beautiful Handmade Paper class Thursday, June 13 from 1-3 p.m. at Rockwoods Reservation in Wildwood. Participants will join MDC naturalists as they teach them to make beautiful, artistic, and colorful handmade paper using plant materials and fabrics. Each participant should plan to bring a cookie sheet, and an old bath towel to take finished items home.

Making Beautiful Handmade Paper will help enable participants to experience an element of the natural world through art and appreciate this close connection between nature and our everyday lives. They’ll also come away with a decorative and useful handmade souvenir.

The class is free and open to anyone age six and up. Advanced online registration is required at https://tinyurl.com/y3geyxfo.

Rockwoods Reservation is located at 2751 Glencoe Road, off Highway 109 between I-44 and Highway 100.
