BRANSON, Mo. – Snakes, turtles and lizards are among the more than 60 species of reptiles that can be found in Missouri. Each of these three types of wildlife have valuable niches in the state’s outdoors world.

People can learn more about these interesting animals at a free Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) program on reptiles from 10 a.m.-2 p.m. March 30 at MDC’s Shepherd of the Hills Conservation Center, which is part of the Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery in Branson. Live reptiles will be available for close-up viewing and participants will have the opportunity to touch a live non-venomous snake. No registration is required.

MDC's Shepherd of the Hills Conservation Center, which is part of the Shepherd of the Hills Hatchery, is located at 483 Hatchery Road on the west end of Lake Taneycomo near Branson. To learn more about this program or other events at the Shepherd of the Hills Conservation Center, call 417-334-4865.
