COTTLEVILLE, Mo.—The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and partners invite the public to a free screening of the documentary film Hometown Habitat: Stories of Bringing Nature Home, Thursday, Aug. 30 at St. Charles Community College.  In the film, renowned entomologist, author, and native plant expert Dr. Doug Tallamy narrates inspiring, true stories that show how everyday “heroes” can help restore nature one garden at a time.

The program begins at 6 p.m. with an introduction, followed by the screening of the 90-minute documentary.  After the film, there will be a reception starting at 7:30 p.m. with informational tables featuring local bringing nature home success stories.

For two years, producer/director Catherine Zimmerman and film crew traveled around the country to visit hometown habitat heroes and film their inspiring stories of community commitment to conservation landscaping. Zimmerman shares these success stories and works to re-awaken and re-define our relationship with nature. Homeowners, church congregations, homeowner associations, landscape designers, nurseries, city councils, parks and recreation divisions, and land developers can all derive inspiration from the film.

Admission is free but advanced online RSVP is requested at https://tinyurl.com/y9s3u23x.  Call 636-300-1953, ext. 4122 for more information.

The film is presented by MDC, St. Charles Community College, Forest ReLeaf of Missouri, The Bring Conservation Home program, Grow Native!, the St. Louis chapter of Wild Ones, and the Confluence Chapter of Missouri Master Naturalists.

The screening will be held in St. Charles Community College SSB Auditorium, SSB Auditorium, 4601 Mid Rivers Mall Drive in Cottleville.
