Chillicothe, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and the Chillicothe YMCA hosted a Family Conservation Night March 30. More than 400 people attended, said Conservation Agent Jake Strozewski, who organized the event.

MDC offered educational opportunities such as fur display and presentations with live snakes. Free tree seedlings were given away. Attendees got fishing tips and assistance with casting skills. Target archery and a laser shot system provided shooting skills tips. Quail Forever chapter members were present to discuss ways to boost upland birds and they ran a shooting exhibit.

Partnerships with organizations and schools help MDC connect people with nature. For information about other MDC programs, visit http://mdc.mo.gov. With spring arriving, MDC’s Discover Nature — Fishing instructional programs will be beginning. To participate in this free program and learn how to fish, visit http://on.mo.gov/1HWUast.
