Warsaw, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) on Jan. 28 presented a cost-share grant reimbursement check for $53,191 to Long Shoal Marina for construction of a new sewage pump station at Truman Lake. The pump station serves boaters needing to empty onboard toilets. MDC administered the federal grant from the Sport Fish and Restoration Trust Fund in partnership with the U.S. Fish and Wildlife Service. This program is designed to help keep public waters clean for anglers, boaters, and swimmers.
Long Shoal Marina has the only pump and lift station on the water at Truman Lake that is designed to serve recreational boats. But during high water events due to weather, the station has at time been inoperable. The project was completed in 2019 and will now enable the marina and the pump station to remain open during high water levels at the lake.
“The project is a win for both boaters and water quality on the reservoir,” said Laura Ruman, MDC fisheries program supervisor.
The grant paid 75 percent of the project cost. MDC administers these grants under the Missouri Clean Vessel Act Pumpout Program.
