LEWISTOWN, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) will host a FREE seminar on crossbows at Deer Ridge Conservation Area, 15868 Highway Y near Lewistown, from 1-5 p.m. on Saturday, July 14.

This class is designed for anyone interested in shooting or hunting with a crossbow. Participants will receive instruction from knowledgeable teachers and learn about the history, maintenance, and operation of crossbows. Participants will also have an opportunity to practice live firing of crossbows.

“With the change in Missouri bow hunting regulations, the use of crossbows is on the rise,” said MDC Outdoor Skills Specialist Rob Garver. “These bows are an excellent hunter recruitment and retention tool, and this course will help users become more familiar and comfortable with their equipment.”

Ages 11 and older are invited to register for this workshop, but children younger than 14 must be accompanied by an adult. All equipment will be provided, but preregistration is required by July 12.
