MDC to host family fishing clinic in Columbia Sept. 11

COLUMBIA, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) invites anglers of all ages to a free family fishing clinic in Columbia Sept. 11. The Discover Nature – Fishing (DNF) workshop will cover the basics of fishing from tackle to knot-tying, and participants will gain the skills and confidence to go fishing on their own. 

This clinic will take place from 6 – 8 p.m. on Wednesday, Sept. 11, at Bass Pro Lake, 3101 Bass Pro Drive in Columbia. 

DNF programs focus primarily on teaching kids 6 – 15 years of age about fishing  with an emphasis on family involvement.  All children must be accompanied by an adult and all participants must preregister for each lesson by visiting

Participants over age 15 must possess a fishing license in order to participate in the fishing portion. MDC will provide all necessary equipment including fishing poles and tackle. Participants should wear clothing and closed-toe shoes suitable for outdoor and water activities.
