HANNIBAL, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), in partnership with Missouri State University, will host a Project WET (Water Education for Teachers) workshop in Hannibal, 8965 Highway 36, Suite 1, on July 15 from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
Project WET is an environmental education program designed for children from kindergarten through grade 12. The Project WET workshop will provide interdisciplinary instructional activities for teachers, natural resource professionals, park and nature center staff, and youth group leaders.
Anyone who works with and needs activities for kids can register for this workshop. Participants will learn new ways to empower children to value water resources and understand their impact on the world around them. Participants will also learn about Missouri’s aquatic ecosystems, including the Mississippi River, and preview other conservation curriculums.
“All living things need water to live and to survive,” said MDC Conservation Education Consultant Kathi Moore, who will facilitate the workshop. “All the water we have on the planet is all the water we are ever going to have, so we need to use it wisely. The Project WET curriculum is designed to teach us all to be smarter about water.”
