MDC invites public to learn about warblers May 2 and 4 in Springfield

SPRINGFIELD, Mo. – Warblers are brightly marked birds that are heard much more often than they are seen. Because of their striking coloration and secluded habits, sightings of these birds are always notable events – even among experienced birders.

People can learn more about these interesting birds and celebrate Migratory Bird Day at the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) program “Birds Passing Through Warbler Walk. This program will be offered May 2 and May 4 at MDC’s Springfield Conservation Nature Center. It will be 8-10 a.m. both days.

At this program, experienced birder Bo Brown will provide information about warblers during the indoors portion and will then lead people on a warbler hike along the Nature Center’s trails. Participants should bring field guides and  binoculars if they have them and wear comfortable walking attire.
