CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. —The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center will host a candlelit wood walk along the White Oak Trace trail at the center Friday, Dec. 14, from 5 to 8 p.m.

“This is a serene experience of a winter night along the trail,” said Jamie Koehler, assistant manager of the Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center. “Nature provides a whole different soundtrack depending on the time of day and year. A night time stroll through the woods in December at night offers a new perspective of our wilder spaces.”

Koehler said the path will be lit by candlelight and the nature center staff will have hot beverages ready for guests at the end of the trail. The trail is paved and accessible to wheel chairs and strollers. Youth and adult groups are welcome to attend this free program.

“This is the perfect time of year to pause with family and friends to enjoy time together in nature,” Koehler said. “We hope this event will offer our community the perfect opportunity to spend time together this season.”
