Warsaw, Mo. – Paddlefish are the giants of Missouri's waters. Those who pursue them know they could catch a 70-pound fish or double that. But catchable they are, and the state's March 15 - April 30 paddlefish snagging season is approaching.

The Missouri Department of Conservation will offer a free Discover Nature Family Paddlefish Snagging Clinic on Saturday, April 16, at the Warsaw Community Building, 181 W. Harrison St.

Participants will learn all about paddlefish and the tackle and methods for snagging paddlefish. The clinic will also include two hours of snagging on the upper end of Lake of the Ozarks. MDC experts will also show how to clean paddlefish and prepare the meat for cooking.

Two clinic sessions will be offered, from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., and from 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Lunch will be provided. Each session is limited to 24 participants.
