HIGH RIDGE, Mo. — As an outdoor enthusiast, you can share your passion with others by volunteering for the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC). It's an excellent way to help others discover your excitement for nature.
MDC is holding a New Volunteer Open House Saturday, March 5, from 11 a.m. – 2 p.m. at the Jay Henges Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center. The event will offer the opportunity to learn more about MDC's volunteer program first hand by speaking directly with MDC staff and active volunteers.
Volunteers serve a vital role at MDC in helping advance the agency's mission of conserving and protecting Missouri's fish, forest and wildlife resources. They also assist MDC with the goal of educating citizens about natural resources and engaging them in outdoor activities.
MDC volunteers help teach kids and families how to fish, promote and ensure firearm safety at staffed shooting ranges, give programs that help the public learn more about nature, lead educational activities like hikes and outdoor explorations, teach the statewide Hunter Education Program, and greet nature center visitors. They also help with MDC special events.
The New Volunteer Open House will be an opportunity to learn more about volunteer opportunities, including training and service incentives.

The Jay Henges Shooting Range and Outdoor Education Center is located off I-44 at 1100 Antire Road in High Ridge. The event is free and no registration is required.
