CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has closed the Southeast Regional Office and Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center on Thursday, Feb. 3, due to hazardous weather and road conditions.

The Southeast Regional Office will be closed to visitors Thursday, Feb. 3. During this time, staff will be available by phone at (573) 290-5730 to assist the public with conservation-related requests.

The Cape Girardeau Conservation Nature Center will also be closed to visitors Thursday, Feb. 3. However, the nature center’s trails and other outdoor areas will remain open. For more information, call Cape Girardeau Nature Center at (573) 290-5218.

“Wintery conditions including ice, sleet, and snow have caused roads to be unsafe,” said Matt Bowyer, Southeast Regional Administrator. “Local and state law enforcement agencies are not recommending travel at this time. The closure is an effort to help keep everyone safe.”

The sites will reopen following improvement of weather conditions. MDC will provide updates as offices reopen.
