JEFFERSON CITY, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) congratulates the hundreds of students from Missouri’s National Archery in the Schools Program (MoNASP) who competed in the 2022 Eastern National Bullseye and 3D Tournament. The competition was held May 12-14 in Louisville, KY.
A total of 5,951 archers across the country competed in the bullseye portion of the tournament. Three-hundred-thirty-nine of those archers were from 47 Missouri schools.

A total of 4,974 archers competed in the Eastern National International Bowhunting Organization 3D event. Two-hundred-forty-eight archers from 25 Missouri schools participated in the challenge.

ALL-AMERICAN ACADEMIC TEAMS
Based on the results of the 2022 Western and Eastern NASP National Tournaments and using rosters of all registered Academic Archers, NASP announced its All-American Academic Teams in Elementary, Middle School, and High School Divisions. These students not only excelled on the archery range, but were also recognized by their school for proficiency in the classroom.

ON TARGET FOR LIFE AWARDS & RECOGNITION PROGRAM
NASP announced the 2022 winners of the On Target for Life Awards and Recognition Program, which is intended to honor and celebrate the many instances where in-school archery, and those involved, are positively impacting the lives of the NASP archers each year.
Garry Cannon, of Skyline High School, was given the 2022 Superhero Award. This individual award is intended to recognize an unpaid volunteer that makes an outstanding positive impact on their NASP program or team. The award includes a $500 equipment grant.
Chelsi Leggett, NASP coach at Carl Junction High School, was named the 2022 NASP Coach of the Year for making an overwhelming positive difference in the lives of her student archers. The award also includes a $500 equipment grant.
MoNASP is coordinated through the Missouri Department of Conservation, the Missouri Conservation Heritage Foundation (MCHF), and the Conservation Federation of Missouri (CFM) in partnership with more than 700 participating schools and numerous supporting organizations throughout the state. More than 200,000 Missouri students participate in the program. MoNASP is an affiliate of NASP and promotes education, self-esteem, and physical activity for students in grades 4-12 through participation in the sport of archery. Statistics show school archery programs improve students’ school attendance, increase their self-esteem and physical activity, help them relate to subject matter, and help get them outdoors.
