Kansas City, Mo. – Autumn is always a fine time to enjoy the outdoors. But extra fun is in store for those who venture to the National Hunting and Fishing Day activities 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 28, at the James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area, 12405 S.E. Ranson Road in Lee’s Summit.
The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and Ducks Unlimited (DU) will host activities enjoyable for both veteran outdoor enthusiasts and those who would like an introduction to outdoor sports. All activities are free.
Kansas City, Mo. – Monarch butterlies and their magnificent migrations from the heartland to Mexico will provide a hands-on, scientific event 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 21, at the Missouri Department of Conservation's Anita B. Gorman Discovery Center, 4750 Troost Ave., in Kansas City.

The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) offers a Hunter Education Program and classes, workshops or special hunts. Participants learn how to hunt with skill, safety and ethics.
“Safe firearms handling and hunting is the number one thing we teach,” said Jake Strozewski, a conservation agent in Livingston County and hunter-ed instructor.
CARTER COUNTY, Mo – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) has confirmed the sighting of a mountain lion on its Peck Ranch Conservation Area in Carter County. The confirmation is based on a trail camera photo taken Aug. 26.
Kansas City, Mo. -- The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) wants to know what Missourians think about its nearly 1,000 conservation areas around the state. MDC is in the multi-year process of updating management plans for conservation areas and invites public comments. A draft plan for the Maple Leaf Lake Conservation Area in Lafayette County east of Odessa is available for public comment Sept. 1 through Sept. 30.

MARSHALL, Mo. — The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) is holding a deer management workshop for landowners and property managers from 1 to 4:30 p.m. on Sept. 21 in the R. Wilson Brown room at Missouri Valley College Ferguson Center in Marshall. The workshop is free, but space is limited and participants must pre-register by Sept. 18.
MACON — Outdoor enthusiasts and kids of all ages are invited to discover nature and explore the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) Atlanta Conservation Area (CA) during an open house from 1 to 4 p.m. on Sept. 14. All events are free and no registration is required.
