CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. -- Fish cleaning and cooking may not be an intuitive skill, but it's easy to learn. Dave Knuth, a fisheries management biologist with the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), will demonstrate how to properly clean and cook catfish, crappie and Asian carp at the Cape Riverfront Market, Saturday, Oct. 25, at 8:45, 9:30, and 10:15 a.m. Knuth will even have samples of the fish for the crowd to taste.
Weston, Mo. – A field day to help property owners manage for healthy woods and wildlife habitat will be offered by the Missouri Department of Conservation 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Oct. 18, at Jungk Tree Farm near Weston. The property is reached about a half miles south of Weston on Route JJ.

EL DORADO SPRINGS, Mo. – Winter is the prime time to prune trees. That means now is a good time for homeowners and landowners to get helpful advice on tree work that will be done in coming months.
Area homeowners can get information on tree pruning at a Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) tree pruning workshop at 3 p.m., Oct. 18 at the MDC Office in El Dorado Springs. The office is located at 1109 S. Main St.
MDC foresters will share tips on selecting proper tools and what are the best methods that will help you avoid future problems.
Nevada, Mo. - The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) and partners will host the fourth annual Outdoor Youth Event to celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, Sept. 27, at the Centennial Park Fairgrounds in Nevada.
ASH GROVE, Mo. – On Sept. 27, area residents of all ages will be able to find out what's great about the Ozarks outdoors.
People can get information on a variety of outdoor activities at the 20th annual Great Outdoors Day. This day-long event, sponsored by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC), will run from 8:30 a.m. to 3 p.m. at the Bois D'Arc Conservation Area northwest of Springfield near Ash Grove. It is the local celebration of National Hunting and Fishing Day, a federally designated day which is the fourth Saturday of each September.
CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The mighty Mississippi River is an exciting place to celebrate National Hunting and Fishing Day. People of all ages are invited to spend "A Day on the River," hosted by the Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) on Saturday, Sep. 20. CAPE GIRARDEAU, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) welcomes a new wildlife management biologist, Ryan Dirnberger, to the River Hills and Crowley's Ridge districts. Dirnberger is based out of the MDC's Perryville Forestry Office, although his responsibilities include managing conservation areas in Cape Girardeau, Perry, Scott, Ste. Genevieve, and Stoddard counties.
Matt Bowyer, MDC wildlife regional supervisor, said Dirnberger will also be an asset to the community as a resource to answer wildlife and habitat questions.
Kansas City, Mo. – The Missouri Department of Conservation (MDC) wants to know your suggestions for the James A. Reed Memorial Wildlife Area in Lee's Summit. MDC is in the multi-year process of updating management plans for almost 1,000 conservation areas throughout the state and invites public comments.
